Stormy Weather

by John Goodluck

We're already to go but we're out of luck
'Cause the skipper's half drunk in the Dog and Duck

Chorus:
Stormy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys,
When the wind blows our barge will go.

The skipper's in the bar of the Dog and Duck
Asking the barmaid for a pint

Chorus

The skipper loves the barmaid very much
He asked her if she would, but she kicked him in the trousers

Chorus

Then the skipper came aboard with the girl on his arm
Says he's giving up barging, taking on a farm.

Chorus

We shoved her off and away we go,
But the bugger's got a barrel of beer below.

Chorus

Then up jumped a mermaid covered in muck
We took her down the focsle and had a good time.

Chorus

On the top of the tide our barge did fleet,
When the mate sees a ghost on the tops'l sheet

Chorus

So the mate ran forrard and the cook fell in the dock
And the skipper caught his fingers in the mainsheet block

Chorus

So away we go and the ghost did steer,
And we all drank the dregs of the old man's beer.

Chorus

The Bosun said the skipper couldn't row a punt
We all agreed, he’s a silly old Captain

Chorus

Well the Skipper loved the girl with the curly locks
And now he's in bed with a dose of the measles

Chorus
